How to Detect Deepfakes with Reality Defender’s Web Application

Person walking forward

The ever-evolving landscape of generative AI presents a continuous challenge in the fight against deepfakes. Reality Defender tackles this threat head-on by offering a user-friendly web interface that streamlines the process of analyzing AI-manipulated media and text. By prioritizing user experience, Reality Defender provides easy access to cutting-edge, AI-fueled tools and empowers users of all technical backgrounds to learn how to detect deepfakes.

How to Detect Deepfakes

Reality Defender’s web dashboard provides a shared interface that can be used for submitting videos, images, and audio files simply by dragging and dropping the files in question.

The app will then proceed to analyze the file and inform the user when the process is finished via the dashboard and an email alert.

Additionally, users can submit a social media link that contains a video (from platforms like Facebook, X, YouTube, and more) without needing to download the video first.

For convenience, our system is capable of isolating the audio track from the link submission and analyzing it separately from the footage. Results are delivered as a percentage showing the likelihood of the media being AI-manipulated. The report can be immediately converted into a PDF file, which includes details about the elements of the media that suggest the involvement of AI.

Our interface also allows for the submission of text via copy-pasting and dropping PDF and Microsoft Word files. A 200-word minimum is required for an accurate scan.

As with all other media, Reality Defender provides a percentage signifying the likelihood of the submitted text being written by AI language models and highlights the parts of the text that suggest it was created with the help of AI. The simplicity of our web interface makes it ideal for novice users learning how to detect deepfakes and clients looking to implement detection tools without any delays.

How to Detect Deepfakes with Reality Defender’s API

For deepfake detection tools that can be easily integrated into any preexisting security workflows, Reality Defender offers a cutting-edge API developed by the world’s top AI research teams. Our API accepts form-encoded request bodies, returns JSON-encoded responses, and uses standard HTTP response codes, authentication, and verbs. Our secure authentication system provides a separate API key for every detection request.

We deliberately designed our API system to be platform-agnostic, allowing for easy implementation into any verification pipeline, regardless of industry or preexisting software or cloud architecture. As with our web application, users can upload video, image, audio, and text files, and receive detailed reports stating the likelihood of the submitted file being a deepfake.

Reality Defender’s API utilizes infrastructure as code, allowing users to scale as needed to match the influx of data in real time, whether they are scanning five or five billion files. Likewise, latency demands can be customized to the users’ requirements — whether done on premises or on Reality Defender’s own instances.

By leveraging cutting-edge AI models and user-friendly interfaces, Reality Defender makes state-of-the-art deepfake detection simple and accessible. Whether through our seamless drag-and-drop dashboard or robust API integration, we remain committed to equipping users with the tools and knowledge on how to detect deepfakes effectively in the evolving AI landscape.
